Pentecost 2022

by the Rev. Porter C. Taylor

What a joy it was to see a sea of red in the pews on Pentecost Sunday! We celebrated with worship, praise, liturgy, and of course, good BBQ!

Our morning began with the commissioning of three new acolytes: Jet Taylor, Case Taylor, and Ellis Taylor.

Our first annual Pentecost Picnic was a massive success! Thank you to everyone who attended, brought food, and made it possible. As you can see from the pictures, it was a red-hot celebration!

Isaiah 52:7

“How Beautiful…are the feet of those who bring good news!”

I especially want to thank Gloria Mongan, head of our Hospitality Ministry, for taking care of all the details and putting on such a wonderful event. Gloria has been an absolute gift in this role!

PIE CONTEST

Congratulations to our two winners in the Pie Contest: first place went to Mari Frith and second place went to Rebecca Taylor. The bar has been set incredibly high for next year!

As I have been reflecting on our joy-filled celebration this week, I have been reminded of all that the Holy Spirit is doing in our midst, that while we continue to pray, “Come, Holy Spirit,” and “Fill us to overflowing,” the Spirit is already at work, building for the kingdom, actively drawing people to God.
